Dive Life Tobermory is bringing PADI Discover Scuba Diving (for ages 10+) and Bubblemaker experiences (for children 8 & 9 years old) to the YMCA. Together with the YMCA Dive Life is creating a new opportunity for children, youth and adults throughout Grey-Bruce to discover the underwater world in the comfortable, controlled environment of a swimming pool.
Our first Owen Sound experience is October 16, 2026. Space is limited.
Who can try PADI Discover Scuba Diving: Ages 10+
You don’t need to commit to a full scuba certification course to discover what diving is all about.
PADI Discover Scuba Diving is an introductory experience designed for people ages 10 and older who want to try scuba diving under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. You’ll be introduced to scuba equipment, learn some of the fundamental concepts and skills of diving, and then experience the moment every diver remembers: Your first breath underwater. No previous scuba diving experience is required.

What Will I Experience?
Your Dive Life instructor will introduce you to the equipment and explain the fundamentals you need to safely begin your experience.
Then it’s time to get in the pool.
You’ll learn how to breathe comfortably through a regulator, become familiar with your scuba equipment, practice introductory scuba skills and experience what it feels like to move and explore underwater.
This isn’t about seeing how quickly we can turn you into a diver.
It’s about giving you a safe, fun and memorable first experience underwater – and discovering whether scuba diving might be your next adventure.
PADI Bubblemaker – Ages 8+
Have a younger future diver in the family?
PADI Bubblemaker gives children ages 8 and older an exciting introduction to scuba diving in a swimming pool under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional.
It’s exactly what the name suggests: a chance to put on scuba equipment, get into the water and make some bubbles!
Our instructors make the experience age-appropriate, fun and highly supervised, with equipment and procedures selected for younger participants.
Why Owen Sound?
We believe learning to swim can be the beginning of someone’s aquatic journey – not the end of it.
Learn to Swim → Learn to Snorkel → Discover Scuba → Become a Diver → Explore the Underwater World
For people living throughout Grey-Bruce, access to scuba training has traditionally meant travelling considerable distances just to get into a suitable pool.
We want to help change that.
Our work with the YMCA of Owen Sound Grey Bruce gives us an opportunity to introduce more local children, families and adults to scuba diving and begin creating a pathway toward becoming certified divers.
And there is an incredible reason to learn.
We live beside one of the world’s great freshwater environments. Georgian Bay and the Bruce Peninsula offer remarkably clear water, fascinating geology, aquatic ecosystems and internationally recognized historic shipwrecks.
There is an entire world beneath the surface of the water in our own backyard.
We want more people to experience it.
Your First Experience Could Be Just the Beginning
If you love your first scuba experience, talk to us about what comes next.
