China
The China was built in 1863 at Port Robinson Ontario. On November 20th, 1883, the China was sailing up the Cape Hurd Channel destined for Parry Sound where a load of lumber was waiting. With visibility reduced by a snow squall, the China strayed off course and ran onto the treacherous reef that now bears her name. A Salvage tug, The Balize, came to assess the situation in December. The Captain decided not to attempt to free the wreck, but just strip if of anything valuable. Eventually the wreck broke up.
The wreck of the China is located very close to the shore approximately 200m southwest of Wreck point.

All that remains is a 21m section of the hull bottom, including the lower part of the centerboard box. The China’s rudder lies in 3m of water 100m northwest, between the wreck and Wreck Point.
